Land Fill Supervisor

Manages all aspects of the Landfill operations for Clarendon County. Management duties will include budget development and administration, staff management, and responsibility for daily operations. Develops and carries out policies, procedures and programs as related to both daily and long-range management of the Landfill. Know how to operate a class 2 landfill and have or be able to get a class 2 certification. Know how to operate landfill equipment and have some mechanical knowledge of landfill equipment.

Boil Water Advisory – Lizzie Creek and Hudson Rd

Clarendon County advises the residents of the affect area to vigorously boil water for at one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking.
A line break in the water system has resulted in a loss of service to the affected area. There has not been confirmed contamination of the system. However, because of the loss of pressure, customers are advised to vigorously boil their water for at least one (1) full minute prior to drinking or cooking until otherwise notified by system Officials. Also, any ice made from the water that has not been boiled should not be used for drinking purposes.

Repeal of Boil Water Notice – Lakeview and Woodlake Roads

The Clarendon County Water and Sewer Department advises the residents served by the referenced water system that they no longer need to boil their water prior to drinking or cooking. Following disinfection and an intense flushing of the distribution system, bacteriological samples were collected from the drinking water system serving the area. The results of this sampling indicated that the system is now safe to use for drinking and cooking purposes. Shift Firefighters

The Clarendon County Fire Department is accepting applications for a Career Shift Firefighter position.  Minimum requirements are:  IFSAC or Pro Board Firefighter I certification with current CPR & First Aid, and a valid SC Driver’s License equivalent to a Class E or Class D with fire apparatus endorsement, with a clean driving record.  Experience is preferred.  Firefighter II, Emergency Vehicle Driver Training and Pump Operations certifications are preferred.  Must be able to work flexible hours, weekends, and holidays.  Must be at least 18 years of age, at the time of employment.  High School graduate or equivalent. 

EMT / External Fire Fighter

Under general supervision of designated fire/rescue officers, performs external fire suppression, provides medical care, ensures equipment maintenance and readiness; provides the best possible control in emergency situations in order to protect the lives and property of those in need of assistance.  Under no circumstances, will enter a structure, mobile home, or enclosure such as a camper for fire suppression activities. Must be at least 18 years of age, at time of employment. Able to successfully complete physical agility test. Must successfully pass medical physical examination and pass testing for illegal drugs/substances. High School graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Part Time & Full Time Paramedics

Under general supervision of designated fire/rescue officers, performs response and medical treatment to patients requesting assistance through 911, provides the best possible control in emergency situations in order to protect the lives and property of those in need of assistance.  Must be at least 18 years of age, at time of employment. Able to successfully complete physical agility test. Must successfully pass medical physical examination and pass testing for illegal drugs/substances. High School graduate or equivalent. Must possess Firefighter I certification. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license.

Heavy Equipment Operator

Under occasional supervision, operates heavy equipment in the maintenance of County roads. Operates a variety of trucks and heavy equipment, which may include bulldozers, front end loaders, backhoes, bush cutters, side cutters, etc., to maintain County roads, bridges, and rights-of-way. Primary maintenance tasks include grading roads, mowing vegetation next to roads, removing trees and debris, hauling dirt and debris, digging ditches, installing drainage pipes, etc. Must be able to operate a Motor Grader. Requires a High School Diploma/GED supplemented by one to two years of experience in heavy equipment operations and road maintenance, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Must possess a S. C. class “B” or “A” CDL driver’s license. Reports to the Public Works Foreman.
