Under the general direction of the Planning Director, the Deputy Planning Director shall assist in the administration and management of the Planning Department. The Deputy assists the Director in establishing goals, objectives, and policies for the management of the department and performs duties as required. In addition, the Deputy provides department wide support with functions such as personnel administration, budget coordination and training of personnel and Planning Commission and Zoning Board members. At a minimum, the Deputy Director shall possess a four-year degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of two years professional planning experience, preferably in government planning. A combination of training, education and experience that is equivalent to those standards and that provides the required knowledge and abilities may also be considered. The Deputy Director acts as the Planning Director in his/her absence.
