The purpose of this position is to coordinate staffing and manage personnel to mitigate various emergency calls in Clarendon County. This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports. Supervises, directs, and evaluates assigned staff, processing employee concerns and problems, directing work, counseling, disciplining, and completing employee performance appraisals. Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed. Ensures each employee is trained to the highest standard for their position and enforce guidelines, policies, and procedures. Prepares and implements new guidelines required for success with clear expectations for all employees and volunteers.  Assists with procurement for supplies and equipment such as apparatus, turnout gear, uniforms, loose equipment for fire apparatus, and station needs. Manages Department budget and expenditures. Emergency call response. Designs and manages equipment for apparatus and new apparatus purchases. Associate’s Degree in Fire Science or related major. Ten (10) years of fire suppression experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Special Certifications and Licenses: Firefighter I & II, Fire Instructor I, Fire Inspector I (ICC), Fire Science Certificate (HGTC), National Registry Paramedic Certification, South Carolina Paramedic Certification. Must possess and maintain a valid state driver’s license with an acceptable driving history. May be required to work nights, weekends and holidays to meet the business needs of the County.
