Under general supervision of designated fire/rescue officers, performs external fire suppression, provides medical care, ensures equipment maintenance and readiness; provides the best possible control in emergency situations in order to protect the lives and property of those in need of assistance. Under no circumstances, will enter a structure, mobile home, or enclosure such as a camper for fire suppression activities. Must be at least 18 years of age, at time of employment. Able to successfully complete physical agility test. Must successfully pass medical physical examination and pass testing for illegal drugs/substances. High School graduate or equivalent. Must possess a valid South Carolina driver’s license. Required Certifications: External Firefighter or equivalency, State of South Carolina Emergency Medical Technician – Basic; National Registry Emergency Medical Technician; Basic Life Support – CPR. You will be required to obtain your IFSAC Firefighter I certification, or equivalent, within 12 months of being hired.
