SUMMARY:

The purpose of this position under general supervision is to perform activities relating to the operation of the training section for the Elections Department. The coordinator is responsible for developing and presenting training and outreach programs directly for the Elections Department. Develops performance measures and maintains training program records for all poll workers, polling location technicians, and other election officials. The coordinator will also assist others in the election office performing any requested duties as needed. Responsibilities including working in all areas of voter registration and elections based on workload.

ESSENTIAL TASKS:

Develops procedure training and provides instruction to department staff, contract offices, and outreach Interacts, communicates and assists various groups to include voters, public, poll managers, candidates, media, other County staff: receives and responds to public inquiries, requests, and complaints.

Perform advanced technical, clerical, and administrative duties in the operation of the Registration and Election office. Assists in the preparation, testing, proofing, reporting and security of voting units and components during elections as well as assisting in ballot proofing and testing.

OTHER DUTIES:

Responsible for packing, unpacking and storing materials after use at the voting polls. Following proper laws and procedures; receives and records absentee ballot requests: process voters in the absentee precinct. Supervise others in the packaging and unpacking of election materials for use at the voting polls. Supervises the activities of seasonal, temporary and senior works employees as assigned; supervisory duties include scheduling, instructing, planning and assigning work, reviewing work, maintaining standards and coordinating activities. Offers advice and assistance as needed. Coordinate, delegate and supervise tasks associated with the preparation for and conduct of elections in Clarendon County.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Completion of associate’s degree and 3 years of experience.

CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES

A valid South Carolina driver’s license is required. Must be able to obtain the State Election Commission certification within 10 months of employment.
